Edit, disable or delete an alarm

Edit an alarm to tune its thresholds, disable it for planned work or while an instrument is out of service, and delete it when it is no longer needed.

All three actions are in the menu (⋮) on the alarm’s card in the list. Operators and Viewers do not see this menu.

  1. In the left navigation, open Alarms.

  2. On the alarm’s card, open the menu (⋮) and select Edit. The Edit alarm dialog opens.

  3. Change the name, description or conditions. The fields are the same as in Create an alarm.

  4. Select Save.

Result: the message Alarm updated successfully appears. The new conditions apply from the next evaluation. The alarm’s history stays as it was, and its values were recorded against the old conditions.

  1. On the alarm’s card, open the menu (⋮).

  2. Select Disable. For a disabled alarm, the item reads Enable.

Result: a disabled alarm shows Disabled and is dimmed. It is not evaluated and cannot go off. It appears only under the All filter. Its history is kept. Enabling it again makes it active from the next evaluation.

Use this instead of deleting when the alarm will be needed again: during a planned shutdown, while an instrument is being replaced or for a seasonal series.

  1. On the alarm’s card, open the menu (⋮) and select Delete.

  2. In Delete alarm, select Delete.

Result: the message Alarm deleted successfully appears and the alarm is removed from the list.

The Edit alarm dialog also has a Delete button, bottom left. It asks the same confirmation.
