Export metric data
Download the values behind the charts as an Excel file (.xlsx). Do this for a report, for your own analysis, or to hand data to a lab or a regulator.
The export contains exactly the series that are selected and the period shown on the screen. Set both first. See Plot metrics.
-
On Metrics, check that the series and the period are the ones you want.
-
Select Export metrics. On a phone, it is in the menu (⋮).
-
Wait for the file. Export started and Preparing your Excel file… show while the server builds it. A long period with many series can take a while.
Result: Export completed and Your file has been downloaded. appear. The browser
saves a file named like metrics_export_20260915143000.xlsx: the date and time of the
export.
What is in the file
Section titled “What is in the file”One sheet, MetricValues, with one row per value and these columns:
| Column | Content |
|---|---|
| Location name | Where the device stands |
| Device name | |
| Device serial | |
| Tag name | The tag’s display name |
| Metric name | |
| Datetime | When the value was measured, as an Excel date and time in the workspace’s time zone. The column header names the zone used. |
| Value | Rounded to one more decimal than the metric’s setting. Percentages are formatted as percentages. |
| Unit | The metric’s unit |
The rows are grouped by series, in the order you selected them.
How detailed the values are
Section titled “How detailed the values are”The export uses the same resolution as the charts, but the server does not thin the points out as it does for drawing:
| Period | One row per |
|---|---|
| Up to 6 hours, starting within the last 7 days | Value, as the instrument sent it |
| Up to 7 days | Minute: the average of the values in that minute |
| Longer than 7 days | 15 minutes: the average of the values in those 15 minutes |
The file has no minimum or maximum columns. Raw values are kept for 7 days. To get every raw value from the past week, export it in pieces of 6 hours or less.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- There is no limit on the period. You can export a year or more.
- A file holds at most 1,000,000 rows of values. When the export reaches that, it stops. The last row then reads Export truncated: maximum of 1,000,000 rows reached. Not all data was exported. The series selected last may be cut off or missing. Export fewer series or a shorter period at a time.
If it does not work
Section titled “If it does not work”| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Export metrics is disabled | No series are selected. Select at least one. |
| Export failed — Something went wrong while exporting. Please try again. | Try again. If it keeps failing, export fewer series or a shorter period. |
| The file ends with Export truncated… | The export reached 1,000,000 rows. Split it by series or by period. |
| A series is missing from the file | It may have no values in the period, or come after the truncation point. |
| Values are averages, not raw readings | The period is longer than 6 hours. Export 6 hours or less at a time, within the last 7 days. |
