Check your sites daily
A ten-minute check at the start of the day catches most problems before they become gaps in your data. Adapt it to your sites.
-
Choose which notifications you want by email. Do this once, on your first day. Nobody gets email until they subscribe — not even for alarms. See Choose email notifications.
-
Check the devices. Open the Dashboard. In Device Status, see whether every device is online. For a device that is offline or reports an error, open it in Devices and look at Last seen and its Error History. For a Bactosense, check the Cartridge card as well.
-
Read what is new. Select the bell () in the header, choose Unread only and go through anything that arrived since yesterday. Select Mark all as read when you are done. See Notifications.
-
Look at the alarms. Open Alarms and set the filter to Alerting. For each alerting alarm, open what it triggered and decide whether it is a real change in the water or an instrument or sampling problem. If you are handling it, suppress it so colleagues know — see Investigate an alarm and Suppress an alarm.
-
Scan the trends. Open Metrics and load your saved view for the sites you look after. If you have no saved view, select the series you look after in the list, or ask a Manager for a shared view. Look for slow drift over days rather than spikes; the alarms already catch the spikes. See Save and share a view.
-
Review the samples. For flow-cytometry sites, open Flow Cytometry, pick the last day and step through the samples with the arrow keys. Look at the HNA/LNA split and the shape of the plot, not only the total count. A sample with a warning needs a closer look before you trust its number. See Review samples.
-
Check recalculations. If someone changed a gate, open Regate requests in the header and make sure nothing failed. See Follow regate progress.
-
Export what you report on. Use Export metrics on the Metrics page or Export results on the Flow Cytometry page. See Export metric data and Export results and FCS files.
