Delete a device
Delete a device when the instrument has left the site for good, or when the record was created by mistake.
Before you start, disable the device. A device that is Active or in Maintenance cannot be deleted.
-
In the left navigation, open Devices, select the Disabled filter and select the device.
-
Open the menu (⋮) at the top right and select Delete.
-
In Delete device, select Delete.
Result: the message Device deleted successfully appears and you are back on Devices. The device is gone from every list.
What happens to its data
Section titled “What happens to its data”Measurements and samples already stored are not deleted with the device record. If you only need to stop the device from being used, disable it instead: a disabled device keeps its name, its settings and its page.
After deletion, its name, serial number and MAC address are free again. If the same instrument comes back later, create a new device for it.
