Glossary
ACC (Additional Cell Count) — An optional second region on the flow-cytometry plot that counts an extra population on top of the main gate. See How gating works.
Admin — The highest workspace role: full access to everything in the workspace. See Roles and permissions.
Alarm — A rule on one or more series that goes off — becomes Alerting — when its conditions are met, and sends a notification. See Alarms.
Alias — A permanent mapping from a metric ID the router sends to an existing workspace metric, so readings under a new name join the existing history. See Resolve pending metrics.
Anchor condition — The first condition of an alarm. It starts the evaluation; the other conditions are checked within the correlation window around it. See How alarms work.
API client — Credentials that let another system read data from Cytometa Cloud through its API. See Manage API clients.
Calculation history — The list on a sample of every time its counts were calculated, with the gate used each time. See How gating works.
Catalog — The shared list of standard metrics that a workspace can add. See Add and edit metrics.
Consecutive values — How many readings in a row must meet an alarm condition before it counts, 1 to 10. See Create an alarm.
Correlation window — How far (±1 to 30 minutes) from the anchor condition the other conditions of an alarm are looked for. See Create an alarm.
Dashboard — The first screen of a workspace: device status, alarms, notifications, latest values and samples. See Dashboard.
Device — The record of one instrument at a location. The router links the physical instrument to it by MAC address. See Devices.
Device state — Active, Maintenance mode or Disabled, set by a Manager or Admin. A device can be deleted only when Disabled. See Change a device’s state.
Discovered device — An instrument the router has found on the site network. It is linked when its MAC address matches a device record. See Manage routers.
Flow — One water stream measured by a FlowControl, with its own tag. A FlowControl has 1 to 4 flows, set on the device. See Cytometa FlowControl.
Gate — The region on the FL1 × FL2 plot that decides which events count as cells, with the FL1 threshold that splits HNA from LNA. See How gating works.
Gate library — The workspace’s named, versioned gates, under Settings › Workspace Settings › Gates. A series follows a gate from the library. See Manage the gate library.
Hand-gated — A sample counted with its own gate instead of its series’ gate. Use the series’ gate puts it back. See Hand-gate a sample.
HNA, LNA — High and low nucleic-acid content bacteria, separated on the plot by the FL1 threshold. See How gating works.
Location — A physical measuring site with an address and a tag. See Locations.
Manager — The workspace role for lab and process engineers: creates and edits locations, devices, tags, metrics, gates and alarms. See Roles and permissions.
Member — The ordinary organization role. What a member can do is set by their workspace roles. See Roles and permissions.
Metric — A measured quantity, such as total cell count, turbidity or temperature, with its unit and number of decimals. See Add and edit metrics.
Notification — A message about a device, a cartridge, a service date or an alarm, shown under the bell and, if you subscribe, sent by email. See Notifications.
Operator — The workspace role for day-to-day work: sees everything, suppresses alarms and opens remote access. See Roles and permissions.
Organization — Your company or utility in Cytometa Cloud. It owns its users, workspaces, routers and security policy. See What is Cytometa Cloud.
Organization administrator — A user with the organization role Administrator: manages users, workspaces, routers, the security policy and API clients, and has full access to every workspace. See Roles and permissions.
Pending metric — A metric ID a router sends that the workspace does not know. Its readings are held until you resolve it. See Resolve pending metrics.
Recovery code — One of ten single-use codes you save when you set up an authenticator app. See Set up your account.
Regate — Recalculating samples with a newer gate. See Follow regate progress.
Router — The box on site (sometimes called the gateway) that finds the instruments, reads them and relays their data over outbound connections. See Manage routers.
Sample — One flow-cytometry measurement: its FCS file, its plots and its cell counts. See Review samples.
Series — One metric, or one flow-cytometry stream, from one device, at one location, under one tag. See Metrics.
Service provider — The company that installs and maintains your instruments. It can reach your organization only when you allow it. See Allow service provider access.
Stale — An alarm that stayed alerting for 24 hours without new data, and was closed automatically. See How alarms work.
Suppress — Silence an alerting alarm for a set time, so colleagues know someone is on it. See Suppress an alarm.
Tag — A short lowercase label, such as inlet, that keeps the data of different streams apart. See
Manage tags.
Trusted device — A browser that skips the verification code for 30 days. See Set up your account.
Two-factor authentication (2FA, MFA) — Confirming your sign-in with a 6-digit code from an authenticator app or from an email. See Sign in.
View — A saved set of charts on the Metrics page, personal or shared with the workspace. See Save and share a view.
Viewer — The read-only workspace role. Like every role, a Viewer can choose their own email notifications. See Roles and permissions.
Workspace — A part of an organization, typically a plant, a region or a project. Locations, devices, metrics, samples and alarms belong to one workspace. See Manage workspaces.
